Disclaimer: I have never dealt with PC issue. To this date my PC run more than satisfyingly and I have little experience with troubleshooting. Please be patient with me.

I had never problem with my PC before, however last 1-2 moths I got major performance problem in every game. Usually my PC can hold 60 FPS (with small drops during intensive scenes, loading or PUBG) in most games on high setting even when playing Witcher 3 or Doom 2016. My PC can still hold these FPS, however it often drops to 10-15 fps for several seconds, turning my game into unplayable slide show.

As first step I decided install MSI Afterburner and check how is my hardware doing. I immediately noticed that these FPS drops are in sync with my CPU dropping from rather stable 70°C to 30-40°C. Just in case, I also got Open Hardware Monitor to confirm these values and it shows the same. With MSI Afterburner I recorded session of me playing Guild Wars 2 and PUBG to show you these values. I played both games at lowest settings. Also I recorded every statistic I could with MSI Afterburner, just to be sure I won't miss something. Logs are attached.

I googled some post around the internet with similar issue. Solutions for other ppl varies quite a lot, so I gonna list what I have done so far to fix this issue and what I am still thinking about to do.

What I have done:

  • Cleaned my case from dust. (It was rather clean.)

  • Changed power cable.

  • Check if my BIOS is on latest version.

  • Updated GPU driver to latest version.

  • Scanned PC with windows defender and Malwerbytes. (No malwer found)

  • Reinstalled Windows and updated to latest version.

Non of these things seem to improve my situation.

What I have on mind next:

  • At this point I can just think about reapplying thermal paste on my CPU.

And this is my set up:

  • Motherboard: MSI 970 Gaming

  • CPU: AMD FX-8350 Vishera

  • CPU cooler: SilentiumPC Fera 2 HE1224 v2

  • SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB

  • HDD: WD Blue 3TB

  • GPU: MSI AMD R9 380 Gaming 4G

  • RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB (2x4GB) 1600Hz DDR3

  • Power supply: Seasonic S12II-620 Bronze

  • 24" nad 27" 1920x1080 60Hz monitors

Is there something that I am missing? Some more statistics that I should check before I continue in trouble shooting? Or should I just improve my CPU cooling?
