Heatsink help please!!

So , a friend of mine , brought this pc to my house and said : can you fix it ? Now , it is pretty old , and one on the 4 polls of the heatsink does not open. Check this oute , and thanks anyone who helps! To open them , you have to twist the to right and the pull up , the one in the picture , the right one, twists , but doesn't go up.

Might just be stiff. I'd replace that thing with a Hyper212 EVO or a Zalman CNPS5X performa anyway.

Sorry , english is not my first language ... What does stiff mean ? And how can I solve it ?

Stuck in place because of all the dust that might have become hard over time making it hard to near impossible to pull up

It means it's not easily bent, moved or changed in shape. Idk how you'd solve it since plastic can't use WD40.

Also this is the whole mb , maybe you can spot problems with the conductors or the vrms

You can try with pliers and a lot of force, but seeing that cooler in that condition, a new one would be better overall

Yes I was thinking of getting a new one too , but I have to take out this one to get the other in place ?

The capacitor near the heatsink, biggest of has bulges and needs to be replaced

Plus one in between the pcI slots. Bottom right in the picture and middle left of the board. And caps that have buldged or need replacing

Is there some dried brown stuff on circuit board near capacitors in right edge?

Those capacitors might have leaked instead of bulging.

 

Also capacitor near BIOS/RTC battery looks bulged.

Most capacitor of that motherbaord could be considered as suspect.

 

How old that PC is and what PSU it has?

PSU going bad can easily overstress capacitors on motherboard.

A cheap soldering iron and solder should do the trick, you could even borrow one. Replace with capacitors with the same ratings. The values will be written on the sides. When replacing make sure you put them in the correct way the white stripe indicates the negative lead.
