Hi everyone!

I'm having some troubles with my laptop while trying to play games. I'm using this laptop => https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GP72-2QE-Leopard-Pro.html .

While trying to play Overwatch, I experience some heavy lagging deeming it unplayable. I also have this problem while playing other games which I was able to play normally in the past.

I'm not very tech savvy so I already asked my brother and a friend for help. They helped me clean out my soft- and hardware because we thought that that would be the source of the problem. For a couple of minutes, it seemed like my computer could run my old games like it used to and I could finally play Overwatch for a short time but then it lagged again. The FPS dropped to 7 and the sound also lags a lot.

Does anyone have any tips on how I can fix this problem?

Thanks!

I'd start with re-installing Windows. It sounds like a fresh install with fresh drivers may help, especially since older games that used to work no longer do. And a good cleaning, (taking off the back of the laptop and blowing out any dust) will help if its thermal throttling.

Also, if it has a HDD and not a SSD, the HDD could be starting to fail (but normally you'd be having more issues.) I always recommend replacing any HDD in laptops to SSDs. they are more resilient and much faster than a laptop HDD.

Thank you for the tips @Konrad Kwasniewski and @EarthWormJM2

I checked the thermals (they are fine) and my laptop works with a SSD. Unfortunately, after a total re-install and clean, my computer still has issues running games. I don't know what could be the issue now.
