1. Budget & Location

Europe, Portugal. Around 1000€

2. Aim

Gaming 1080p, video and photo editing, programming. Upgrade again in 5years++

3. Monitors

One while gaming, two working.

4. Peripherals

No need.

5. Why are you upgrading?

My current build ( fx6300, hd7850, 8gb ram ddr3) can't handle new games on 60fps. Even fortnite on low...

I want to re-use the following components in the new build:

- XFX PRO 550W

- Corsair H105i WaterColler

- SSD and HDD

- NZXT h440

Only need Rams, MOBO, GPU and CPU. But dont know what is the best in long term with the components I want to re-use.

Thanks all!

I would aim for a Ryzen 5 1600 or 2600.

The higher clocks and slightly more powerful cores of Intel cpu are a good choice lightly threaded apps like most games, compilers, and Photoshop.

PCPartPicker.com does not list an h105i cpu cooler. It also indicates that the H105 is not compatible with the H400 case.

You will have to price out this build from local sources, but I do believe it will come in under €1000. Any DDR4-2666 CL15 memory would be good.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel - Core i7-8700 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor  ($0.00)
CPU Cooler: CRYORIG - H7 49.0 CFM CPU Cooler  ($0.00)
Motherboard: Asus - PRIME B360M-A Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($0.00)
Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory  ($0.00)
Video Card: EVGA - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB SC GAMING Video Card  ($0.00)
Total: $0.00

I wrote the wrong model of the case, already edited (it's h440).

The cpu was aiming that one or the 8700k for OC. In the long term, the 8700k OC is better or the 8700 stock is enough?

Thanks!!!

Dont know exact pricepoint in Portugal. Swap the 1400 for a 1600/2600/1700 if the extra overhead allows. At 1080p you wont be upgrading the GPU for a while at least

Edit: Forgot about photo editing swap the CPU for one of the mentioned ones

Edit2: to avoid upgrading for a while the 1700 with a light overclock to 3.7-3.8ghz would serve you just fine

Since you have a decent cpu cooler that fits the case, an i7-8700K makes the most sense. In which case an ATX z370 motherboard is necessary. Asus Prime Z370-A would be my first choice.

You will need to get a small tube of thermal compound. I would also suggest an Arctic Silver cleaning kit, http://www.arcticsilver.com/arcticlean.htm. While one can use Isopropyl/Rubbing Alcohol I've found that the Arctic Silver product is easier to use and does a better job.

Thanks for the tips, didn't knew the existence of that cleaning kit. Definitely gonna buy it!

Thermal compound I still have arctic MX-2, I think does the job.

Thanks!!!

ahh your trading on amd huh? if your on a budget i would def get a ryzen put that extra money into your gpu... but either way if your just a gamer then intel is better... ryzen will play anything tho. An a gpu bigger than a 1060 would be good for a long time. 1070 ti make sure you get a good cooler on your pascal gpu its got sick headroom if you keep it cool
