So when i updated my GPU driver (not long after a windows reinstall) the 1st time i started a game right away i noticed fps drops/stutters (more like split second freezes) and didnt change depending on the system temps. Sometimes even my pc crashed (in game or not)

So since i had just recently updated my GPU driver, i reverted back to the one that worked previously and the system runs perfectly fine now.

And i tried to see if anything else in my system could be causing this conflict and tried defaulting bios settings, removing all overclocks, using DDU to delete the driver and do a fresh install of it and my system still had issues with any driver newer than the last driver that worked.

My system :
CPU - i7 4790K @4.6ghz

Motherboard - Asus Maximus VI Formula (using the latest bios)

RAM - Kingston HyperX Fury 4x 4GB 1866mhz CL10

Cooler - CM Hyper 212 evo (with better fans)

GPUs -
1.Zotac GTX1080 Amp Extreme.
2.Asus Strix GTX960 2gb (use this to encode game streams)

PSU - Corsair RM750x

Storage -
1. Kingston 120gb V300 SSD

2. Seagate barracuda 1tb

3. Seagate barracuda 2tb

Windows 10 pro 64bit version 1803

Last working Nvidia driver - 391.35

Mobo - Asus Maximus VI Formula Ram - Kingston HyperX Fury 1866mhz CL10 16GBCPU - Intel i7 4790K ;

GPU - Gainward RTX 2070 Phantom ; PSU - Corsair RM750x Cooler - CM Hyper 212 EVO

I would try to see if the 960 is causing any problems.

I've experienced problems with some Nvidia drivers(from the 397.xx revision IIRC) where it would stop working after a few days, and all my games would freeze and force me to do a hard reboot and reinstall the driver.

do you think i should remove the 960 and then update the driver or update the driver and then remove the 960?

do have to say that from the short amount of testing so far ... works 100% fine without the 960 and with the latest driver

but tomorrow, i will add the 960 back to see if the issue comes back and will update this post

@Crunchy Dragon
sad news, the issue seems to have came back :/

literally just watching a 1080p video and all 3 of my monitors freeze for a split second and then get going again

Also cant see the usage spike if my gpu has only 1% usage at this kind of load

Remove the 960 and see if the issue persists without it in the system.

Might have to try googling that error, I don't know much on how to deal with blue screens.

damnn, well from a quick google search ... the most common cause is a RAM related issue, but how would be RAM related if it worked fine with an older driver

It might just be drivers being screwy.

Have you considered building a dedicated streaming box to use your 960 in?

Alright. I think the problem might have something to do with drivers acting up between the two cards.

I'm not fully aware of a way to fix this, as I've never had multiple GPUs in a system before.

do you think its worth asking in the graphics cards section ?

Worth a try, I would say.

Be sure to mention that it was narrowed down to this problem.
