Hello all my name is Isaiah and I am trying to build (or purchase) a decent gaming PC. I need at least a GTX 1060 or equivalent GPU quality and I would love to go Ryzen. Please let me know!

Np, just that there are a LOT of builds done daily and most are just carbon copies of each other.  

 

Peruse that thread, and maybe look thru the first couple pages of the New Builds and Planning forum....

 

Then, if you have questions, post those.  

 

My opinion of course, but the threads have a lot of info on WHY parts are chosen as well.  Good reading and may expand your knowledge as well.

The i5 8400 is a beast for gaming even if it isn't overclockable and a GTX 1070 will be plenty for 1080p 60Hz gaming for the next little while.

Gonna slot together a 8400 version of the build. The 8400 is better for gaming but has a worse upgrade path in terms of CPU

A few compromises in PSU and RAM, but essentially the same

 

You wont be running into CPU bottlenecks at up to 75hz gaming

I going to feel stupid for asking but here goes... Is a AMD Graphics card as good as a Nvidia GPU? I honestly do not know.

An 580 is an equivelent to a 1060.

 

Can create a 1070ti build by compensating in other components like CPU. I just created a more balanced build that complimented the monitor.

 

Use gpu.userbenchmark.com for a rhough performance comparison.

Sort of. You will have to find the component that failed and go through warranty from the manufactorer of that component. There isnt a whole pc warranty. Keep in mind some products have longer warranties than other. Usually it works just fine

As to answer the answer more directly.

 

Nvidia has the most powerful GPU out of the two. Though at lower performance tiers they both have compelling cards.

 

Atm if you are spending more than 350-400$ on a GPU Nvidia is the way to go. Mining have lead to the high end AMD cards skyrocketed in price. Cards like the Vega 56 and 64 which are similar to the 1070 and the 1080 respectivly. 

 

I chose an AMD card for you at 300$ for Freesync to remove tearing and to compliment the screen i was going to suggest either way
