Hey everyone.

I don't have RGB on my motherboard (Asus z370g)

I have an Asus GTX 1080 Ti OC Strix. It has an RGB header on it.

Dumb question but is it safe to use that to power 2 40mm RGB strips (phanteks Aura compatible) daisy chaining them and using the phanteks adapter to connect to RGB header on GPU?

This is the sort of thing the RGB header on the GPU was designed for right?

Thanks,

Dan

I would give it a try but i do not know if the Aura Software can address the RGB Strips through the plug on the GPU. I think it was intended to be a failover header if the original dies.

Thank you. Someone just said this to me.. What do you think? The manual says nothing about led.

Hi. The card's header will just be for connection to an RGB hub or controller, the card itself can't act as the hub (it takes instructions on what to do with lighting, it can't coordinate other hardware). Have a look at the card's website - there will be details of recommended RGB hubs, software and installation guides for using the header port.

The red header is a 4pin RGB. 2x40mm (2x4cm ^^) should not be a problem. If you want to be safe check the manual if you can connect 80 cm worth of led.

Asus showcase this feature. They have it on there website. It is even printed on the PCB (12v, r, g, b).

I don't know what he means.

I think you are right. He also just went on to say that he has never actually used RGB as he doesn't like the distracting lights :-) So I might be inclined to not believe him. Thanks for your help anyway. Can't be too careful with these little things!
