try this first mines stable here. dont try some craZy high 1.40 with 5ghz, hardly anyone has to go that high with 5ghz

1.4ghz is hardly high lol.

I ran my 7700k at 1.42v 5.1ghz for 2 years, was perfectly ok.

Not sure what mobo you have, but Gigabyte suggests starting 5.0GHz at 1.28v and going up 0.01v until stable on Prime95.  I ended up at 1.30v in BIOS settings.

this is very different on each chip.

also make sure you keep the temps in check!

1. i would recommend for 5GHz starting at 1,35V

2. run stress tests.

3. if there is no crashing you can lower the voltage to 1.34V, test again, stable again? go to 1.33V etc etc keep repeating until you start to see weird behaviour or crashing.

same goes for if you crash on 1.35V up the voltage until you find stability

personally i wouldn't push over 1.4V unless you're delidded and have very good temps then you could go for 1.42V without any issues.

1.30V for 5GHz is possible for sure but i'm 99% sure most of the 8700k's will not run 5GHz at that voltage, 1.35V is more realistic imo.

Just hopping in: when I oc my delidded 8700k in bios (even on 4,8 ghz) windows just will not boot after restart. The circle just stops and then it freezes - but if I oc it with the intel utility thing it works? Can you tell me why it behaves like this? I can‘t even go 4,8 Ghz at 1,4V if I try to do it in the bios... it just freezes on boot

what motherboard are you using and what bios version are you on currently?
