I'm planning a new build that I eventually plan on doing a custom loop for and am unsure if it's better in this forum or the water cooling forum since I am basically trying to get ideas for both. So now for the nitty gritty.

The build itself is going to be used for 1440p gaming, watching movies and such, and some streaming, and the area i live in gets rather hot during the summer (last year average was about 120 F/ 49 C), so this is the primary reasoning for water cooling. The budget, including the custom loop is $3750 USD, and I won't need any other peripherals other than the upgrade in the monitor (which doesn't need to be an IPS panel as shown in the choice I made, but would prefer a g-sync one).

So here's the basics of the build:

I understand that there's no cooler on the build currently, and that's because until I am ready for the custom loop I plan on using it at stock with my Hyper 212. Afterwards, I'll OC it. I also haven't completely made up my mind on fans yet either, though I am leaning towards the Boralite fans. If you have any ideas on things I might be able to improve or get better longevity performance per dollar, please feel free to speak up, though just an fyi, I am more interested in Intel than AMD.

And now for the loop portion of this. Since I live in a warmer area I'm now trying to decide if I should also add a motherboard block, monoblock, or step up on the MoBo from a Maximus Hero over to the Maximus Formula since it already comes with a block already on for the vrm's. The idea behind the looks for the build is going to be like a Star Wars Arc Trooper type look, or Phasma (I think that was her name), so basically a more silvery/chrome with some black and a hint of red look to it.

Anyways, thanks for any help or ideas you guys/gals might have.

Coffee Lake runs hot so a 212 evo with an overclock is going to run pretty hot.

As I said, I don't plan on OC until after I do the custom loop. Just plan on stock until then. I can take a performance hit at the start in favor of spending more on an aio that will only be used for a very brief time (like 1 month max).

That was the link I used. Right there in the little box next to the word "permalink"

the link looked misleading.

Cooling the VRMs is a good idea when overclocking, especially in a high ambient temperature environment.

Consider getting a single, larger SATA III ssd rather than splitting storage between smaller NVMe and SATA III drives. Given the use case, I doubt the added performance of NVMe would be noticeable.

Did you consider a Seasonic Focus Plus Gold psu?

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

I did consider the Seasonic Focus, but chose the EVGA G2 more for the price and both being in tier 1 for power supply. As for the storage, ya, I just added that in before posting due to me being semi awake. I actually plan on transferring my current 1 TB HDD over as well and just going with the NVME for OS. I would also just transfer over my current SSD, but it's starting to act a little funny and slow due to age (had my current pc for about 4 years now).
