Sorry if this isn't the right forum.

Hello everyone! I am in a very difficult position at the moment. As we all know, graphics cards prices are insanely inflated. I was about to get a great deal (GTX 1060 6GB by Gigabyte for $200ish) on eBay earlier but got sniped at the last moment. My biggest problem is that I really want to play current gen games at 1080p at respectable settings and framerates. I could get a PS4 Pro as they are on sale this week ($349) with E3 and the PlayStation days of Play or I could shell out that cash for a GTX 1060 for around the same price ($309).

Just want some input. I'll put some pros and cons for both according to my situation and if you guys could provide some input or point me to trustworthy vendors for either at reduced prices I would greatly appreciate it.

P.S. Please don't just say PC master race.

PC PROS:

- Multipurpose, I edit videos and photos on the side

- Dem graphics doe

- I love RTS and tycoon games which are typically PC exclusives

- Online gaming is free

- STEAM SALES

- Backwards compatibility

- Lots of weird little indies

PC CONS:

- Most of my build is starting to show it's age (5 years old and was budget then) So I might not be able to just get a new graphics card and be done.

- I'm afraid if I got a new card the rest of the equipment would bottleneck.

- Most of my friends do not have PCs and I don't have a lot of friends to play with online like I used to back when I played on my PS3.

- THE PRICE OF GRAPHICS CARDS

PS4 PROS:

 - A lot of my friends play on PS4, larger community

- Large amount of exclusives that I really want to play instead of watching YouTubers do it.

- THERE IS A FUCKING AWESOME PS4 SLIM OUT THIS WEEK THAT'S BLUE AND PRETTY BUT ITS ONLY THE SLIM :(

- I've always been a playstation guy, get them usually five years after they have been out and it's about that time. Nostalgia FTW.

PS4 CONS:

- Have to pay for online gaming

- No Steam Sales

- Kind of underpowered ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

- Games can take a while to go on sale / reduce in value

Also for those of you who are curious, this is the current PC build I am "rocking"

- 8gb DDR3 RAM

- Asus GTX 750ti OC with 2gb DDR5

- Intel Core i5 4460 @3.2 ghz

- 1tb HDD

- EVGA 500 watt power supply

- Some stock Dell Motherboard from the time

an i5 4460 is still pretty decent, jam in a 1060/580 and you'll be fine.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

I'd personally go with PC, cause it's my thing. They're a many more advantages to playing on PC than playing on a console. For the same price, go with the 1060 6GB.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

PSA: Posting a PCPartPicker list with no explanation isn't helpful for first-time builders :)

Many PS4 games won't reach 60fps at 1080 even on the pro. If that's your end goal, even your current CPU should hit that mark. Probably just weigh out soley which games you are more interested in playing and decide from that.

CPU: AMD Sempron 2400+ / MOBO: Abit NF7-S2G / GPU: WinFast A180BT 64MB / RAM: Mushkin DDR333 256MBx2 / HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 120GB

Thanks to all for your responses, I actually just found an okay deal on Newegg for an Asus GTX 1060 6GB and bought it. Will be arriving in a few days. Thanks for the input and have a lovely evening!
