Hey all, I have a Dell Optiplex 3010 with an i3-3240 as it's current CPU. I really want to upgrade to either an i5-3550 or an i5-3570. I'm just wondering whether these new CPU's would work. Thanks!

Would be a waste of money to upgrade that platform most likely unless the new CPU is free

also you should go to an i7 if you're going to upgrade anything there

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

i5-3570 is a fast quad core cpu and if you can find one for the right price it will work and will make your computer experience much better...

how much RAM do you have?

if the motherboard can handle i7-3770 and you can afford i would go with that but not sure PSU and motherboard wise you have enough for it.

core i5 are fine though, thats sure.
