corsair lighting node pro issues

I got the h700i and connected all fans (6 total) to the included fan splitters which work and they do spin even though software only detects some of them and shows the others at 0rpm and at first nzxt cam was detecting the smart device, nzxt rgb strips, and my kraken but then after trying a different mobo usb header it no longer detects anything.  Corsair software doesn't detect my lighting node pro or the fans whatsoever.  I've tried connecting the node directly to my mobo and to the nzxt usb expansion hub.  The node doesn't light up so I can't be sure it's even getting power to rule out a bad splitter or bum node. I even tried moving one corsair fan from the included splitters to directly on my mobo...I'm at a loss how to get everything properly set up and detected
