I have bought a new video card, the 7950. It is part of my new build, but when I go to dxdiag. it doesn't detect it.

I haven't installed any drivers yet because I don't have an optical drive, and my internet is having issues so I can't download it. My computer is using onboard graphics, I think.

How do I fix this? Also, my display is set to PCI E, top slot in the BIOS

Much appreciated.

It is a Directx error!

just restart your computer & probably it should go away..............but if it does not go away then just reinstall directx and that should solve your problem

Reinstalling DirectX didn't work. When I open GPU-Z it shows my graphics card. but it is under the name Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. It also shows this in device manager. I have no idea why. I also installed drivers from MSI website, as that is the card vendor.

Your system needs drivers to properly utilize any piece of hardware. Thinking that your card is going to work fine without drives is wrong. Install the drivers and restart and everything should work fine.

I've installed the latest drivers, which was the beta driver, but now it has left my screen with massive black boarders. It is running at native resolution 1080p but hasn't filled out the monitor screen.

Sorry for being a tech noob, this is the first time I've built one

Thanks.
