I am an Australian HSC student interested in computers, coding (although I don't know much beyond basic HTML) and am required to create an innovative product, system or environment for a subject called design and technology. I found several forums about the nature of thebottlenecker.com and how appalling it is. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to improve on it, and if you know, how to code a similar calculator to the one on the website. I appear to have taken upon a task that I simply don't know how to complete and if anyone could help me with:

- How to code a bottleneck calculator

- How to collect data on computer bottlenecks

- How to improve on thebottlenecker.com

or anything else, I would be eternally grateful.

Thanks in advance

P.S - I am creating the 'improved' website with WIX

I dont know how to code, but I know how the site works. Set a chart of CPUs and give them a score on performance. Do the same with graphics card. Then calculate the difference in scores to determine the bottleneck %.

As for how to judge the scores, I think that's just experience? Every situation is different, so you can only take a game that loads both the CPU and GPU well (say GTA 5 at 1080p with all maximum graphics settings, but those in advanced settings disabled) and score them accordingly.

It does not take target resolution into account. Increasing resolution doesnt increase load on the CPU in any noticeable way, but eats up a lot of GPU power. That's a place to improve it.

Thank you this will help me with making it different which is definitely something I need right about now.

I've started the website, its very placeholdery in that basically everything in it can be changed in the future but if you want to visit it the web address is 'bottlenecked.org'

Im still pretty confused about how to make this calculator, especially in wix. I have a bunch of dropdown boxes and radio buttons on the calculator section and i'm currently trying to figure out how to make them work. Any help in this would be appreciated or any help on any other part of the website to be honest.

I'm too far gone now, I can't change my major work this late in the piece, help
