Can I use a router like an lrt214 and use a manged switch with all four lan ports pluged into the switch and have separate vlans on the router.  And have the managed switch have like four different zones?  I know this sounds stupid, but I want to know if it is possible to use 4 land from the lrt214 to a managed switch and would it provide any benefit with this configuration.

Looks like it.  You can use multiple dedicated interfaces or a single interface as a trunk with VLAN subinterfaces on the router, but physical interfaces also work.  You  just need an IP on each VLAN so they can have a gateway out from each segment and the device can route between those networks.

I'm not that familiar with that device specifically so it may or may not allow you to allocate each LAN port to its own segment, but worth a shot if you have configuration options for it in the GUI.

What kind of managed switch is it?  You'll be limited by the CPU of the router when forwarding traffic across VLANs unless you can do a layer 3 switch type of setup.
