Ultrawide options

spotnyk

I'm currently looking for a new monitor.  My main requirements are 1440p ultrawide and at least 100hz. What would be the best buy in this category?

Thanks

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately that is not an ultrawide, which is what I'm looking for.

My personal list of favorites:

1. Alienware AW3418DW (G-Sync, 3440x1440 IPS panel 100Hz native 120Hz OC)

2. Acer Predator Z35P (G-Sync, 3440x1440 VA panel 100Hz native 120Hz OC)

3. Acer Predator X34p (G-Sync, 3440 IPS panel 100Hz native 120Hz OC) - I think there are two versions of X34, one is 60Hz and overclockable to 100Hz (X34) and there is a refresh with 100/120 (X34p).

And the one to rule them all (not out yet):

Asus ROG Swift PG35VQ (G-Sync, HDR, Quantum Dot, 200Hz).

The Asus will be probably about 50-70% more expensive than the other 3.

If you don't care for G-Sync, there are cheaper options ;-)

I have the Alienware and have only good things to say about it. Choosing between 1 and 2 is choosing between IPS and VA panels - one has better viewing angles and color reproduction and the other has better blacks.

Choice between 1 and 3 is aesthetics mostly and whichever you can get cheaper (depends on the region).

Asus will cost in the vicinity of $2k so it's a whole different discussion.

CPU: i7 6950X  |  Motherboard: Asus Rampage V ed. 10  |  RAM: 32 GB Corsair Dominator Platinum Special Edition 3200 MHz (CL14)  |  GPUs: 2x Asus GTX 1080ti SLI

Storage: Samsung 960 EVO 1 TB M.2 NVME  |  PSU: In Win SIV 1065W

Cooling: Custom LC 2 x 360mm EK Radiators | EK D5 Pump | EK 250 Reservoir | EK RVE10 Monoblock | EK GPU Blocks & Backplates | Alphacool Fittings & Connectors | Alphacool Glass Tubing

Case: In Win Tou 2.0  |  Display: Alienware AW3418DW  |  Sound: Woo Audio WA8 Eclipse + Focal Utopia Headphones
