Family youtubing, high ping and linksys solution.

Hi, 

 

I need your help guys i have ping problem because the family heavy use of youtube, facebook, etc. I have 30 mb internet speed and i was told that linksys router can split the speed so while gaming, You can take 10 mb for yourself and the rest for your family.

 

Is that true? like no one can affect the 10 mb i split for my computer.

Depending on which Linksys router you get, you can enable Quality of Service (QoS) for your system so traffic to it is prioritized over any other data-hungry devices.  It's not just Linksys routers that have this feature though.  Most if not all routers on the market have this feature but Linksys is a good brand.  Also be aware that if all of your upload speed is being used, you will experience high ping.  Hope this helps.
