So i had one spare and desyded to try and see how much Celcius drop i could get in it and if i wanted to do it on my deskop with an 4790k.

But here's the thing...i chip a tiny tiny bit on the edge(the green materia on the top side) cause the IHS just would't wanna let go.

Its really tiny and cant see any damage to vital components

When all was done it doesnt bot and no keyboard or mouse light up...i quess its dead dead but did i damage my mobo in the process??

@HandSolo the only way to be 100% sure is to boot it up with antoher CPU but mostlikely no it's probably fine you just shorted some traces on your CPU and fried it alone when you cut into the PCB by accident , I scraped the top layer of part of a PCB and it worked fine still so guess I'm just lucky

Hmm the thing that burns is that i was super careful but still ended up destroying the thing...make me wonder if i dare to do it to my desktop....my idle temps on my 4790k is 50 C with watercooling(80-85C on game load) and delidding was my last resort to fix those high temps.

Yea you must be a lucka bastard :) haha

You got any good ideas if a dont dare to delidd my real rig to fix those temp?

Im thinking about to buy a new chip and cross my fingers on the silicon lottery but they are expensive
