Hello Everyone!

First Thank-you for taking the time to read my post. I've got myself a frustrating predicament. Recently (last month) or so I've been experiencing PC crashes while gaming. More in-particular gaming that requires higher graphics. I've noticed when i put said games on medium settings the crashes stop. In the time I've experienced the issue i replaced my video card RMA thinking i had a GPU problem, formatted my computer, reinstalled display drivers with current and past drivers, installed different versions of windows, checked my memory diagnostics and ran my CPU at 65% via power options. all of which didn't fix my issue. After a lot of reading I'm starting to think maybe its my power supply failing or what have you. I guess I'm just looking for someone to agree with me so i can buy a new PSU with even a shred of confidence.

I cleaned out my computer with a can of air as i noticed my temperatures where a bit high on my CPU. After doing that everything hardware temperature wise is normal again. But the crashes continued on any high settings.

Example Crashes
H1Z1 - On high settings PC crashes while loading environment screen
Wow - On high settings i can play 15min - 1hr before a PC crash

Cs:go - on high settings (randomly crashes PC)

Overwatch - high settings also randomly.

My PC ( Never Overclocked)
msi z97sli 1.0  (onboard graphics disabled)

i5 4690k - Stock Cooling

16gb ddr3

550watt psu thermaltake

geforce gtx 1060 6gb

sata 1tb hd

2 benQ 23inch led

Razer mouse and keyboard

Windows 10 (Game mode & Friends disabled)

Thanks again! I really appreciate any advice i can get at this point!!!

That is really strange.  If you've reset all software sounds like the only thing left could be a hardware issue. I'd swap out parts of your pc to try and isolate what's causing the problem.

Yeah, I've swapped and or checked what i can. I'm down to cpu, mobo and psu. I feel like i want it to be the power supply. I might have to take it in for some sort of diagnostics.
Thanks for replying :)

Hey, Thanks a lot man!
I'm a big fan of all the YouTube content so it only made sense i signed up on the forums! After i have some definitive conclusion on what this happens to be ill come back and edit my original post with some hard facts. :P I didn't realize how weird power supplies can be. I read something about shorts happening only when under load which is a concept foreign to me. I thought these things were pretty black and white - supplying power or not. That being said i could be wrong, it certainly wouldn't be the first time.

Power supplies are actually way more complex than people realize. It's one of the things you definitely don't skimp on.
