Hi,

I just finished this build. It's my first one.

Core i7 8700k
32GB RAM
EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2 (6683)
Seasonic focus plus 750w
2xsamsung nvme 970 ego
2x wd black 1tb
NZXT H700i

It installed correctly at first but when I updated the driver it gave code 43.
When I turn on the computer, both fans moves and when in windows they stop.

I connected both 8 pin directly from the psu. However, the card came with two 2x6 pin to 1x 4 pin adapter. I’m suspecting I have not installed correctly the card.

Please advice.

Wait, so when you boot into windows the PC crashes?

Did you select the correct driver version ? (64 bits probably, windows 7-10 ? Model ex : gtx 1070 etc...)

If you provide clear pictures of the GPU connectors, wires etc.. I can tell if it's fine or not

If you are able to load windows and the issue is when you install the driver, it means the card is well connected otherwise you wouldn't have display so I guess here you might have selected wrong driver ?

That's probably the 0 RPM fan mode at work. It turns the fans off at idle so that it's quieter.

DL'ing older drivers. Will pass DDU before installing them.

I'm guessing it could be a firmware issue.

I also found some stuff online about uninstalling Lucid VIRTU MVP... however, this looks to be an issue from a few years ago. If that doesn't work you could still give it a try though.

Also, make sure that you're using PCIE cables, not EPS 8 pins (if they're PCIE cables they should be 6+2 pin cables). Also, make sure they're plugged all the way 100% in.

I’m using the cables provided with the psu.

i see there are some adapters which I attached in a post before. Should I use them?

It looks to me like those adapters are so that if your PSU only has 6 pin connectors, you can use two of them to power an 8 pin connector on the GPU. They shouldn't be necessary.

I would just format reinstall windows if I was OP see if issue is gone after

Plugged in fine, there are only two driver, 64 and 32 the system will only let you install one. So that's right.

Card needs to be reseated or checked for obstruction on the pci lane. Or try another slot to ensure its the card or the mobo.

Just reinstalled windows. Guess what, the card is working again.

it is working with the 388.13 drivers provided by Microsoft on windows update.

I'm pretty sure this is firmware related...

EVGA precision ocx can control The fans and see temps. I can see data in gpu-z.

Firmware for the card? I doubt it, you didn't change that so it cant be the issue.

Well it could have been a few things, but wasn't firmware. Nothing you did could effect that, not for the card atleast.

I'm installing the latest Nvidia drivers now. It seems someone pinned the Intel chip set driver as the culprit.

I haven't installed any driver except the Nvidia one. Let's see.
