Thinking about using this optiplex ( http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6035936&CatId=2627) and a old graphics card and case i have laying around to build my daughter a low end machine she can use to play fortnight or work on assignments.

What do you guys think? i don't want to go over about 100 bucks. i already have a case, power supply, 32 gigs of DDR-3, GPU and all the monitors and such.

Old MSI radeon 3000 series. i have played Fortnight on this card.my MoBo on my tower just blew up so i am upgrading my entire desktop. figure i would give her the old pieces and just replace the CPU and Motherboard. I don't have the pieces sitting in front of me right now.

Also i don't want to reuse the old CPU because i don't trust it.

...Yeah that can't run fortnite, not at any reasonable fps any way, that computer also doesn't have the power supply for such a large GPU.

Worth a shot in the dark. Back to looking at Newegg for a cheap build.

How about this, i am just getting back into system building.

Most she would use this for is fortnight and youtube.  I am open to all forms of input.

Here is a cheap build I would recommend for fortnite... It does cost ~$200 but it is 3-4 times as powerful as the build you were thinking about. But it can handle most modern games at decent fps.

Still too weak. it would be fine for youtube and google docs, and some older games, but not fortnite.

Guess i could unmount all the parts from the HP and just run without a IO shield.

Why not use that case?

It has everything you would need besides peripherals, a screen, a decent GPU, and RAM, the GPU I listed is one of the best value ones you can get though a 1030 would work too.

GPU wouldn't fit, looking at it the PC uses half height backplates.

So does that GPU I recommended, I have a build very similar to that one. The gpu you have is too weak.

I was looking at it wrong. for 200 i could use this build. she doesn't need anything fancy and i can make up so cost difference selling the old case and such.

GPU worked fine playing it just 2 weeks ago paired with a older I7. but i am by no means a expert so i'll just stick to what you recommend.

In case you missed the links here are the 2 GPUs I recommended, each would work, first a GTX 1050, and second a GTX 1030, both are half height, or low profile cards.

Thanks, these are the metrics I based my comparison off of, please tell me if this is incorrect. And the build I found can hit ~100fps on high and ~50 fps on epic settings.
