Posted May 18, 2018 Hello all , Just joined recently , my first thread was welcomed with tons of awesome help and feed back . So I have started another one for some help , bare with my though because while I know enough to get me in trouble , im not super tech savy . I am trying to reset the BIOS on my motherboard , due to it having a password that eithier I or the previous owner created . It was most likely me , but i can not for the life of me remember what i set it to. I am trying to access it so i can overclock my cpu. Motherboard- Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-80XA-UD3 3.0 AM3+ Processor - AMD Phenom II x6 1090t Yes i know this stuff is pretty outdated and i should be more focused on updating , but i am slowly getting the parts together for upgrade . The pin cap for the CMOS reset connector was missing , so obviously i never got it , because i still have the box from the previous owner and it was not in there . So i cannot reset that way . I tried removing the battery for a couple seconds , the putting it back in while PSU was completely unplugged , no luck there . Maybe i did not do it long enough , I did my homework before resorting to a thread , sorry ! Any help is appriciated ! Posted May 18, 2018 CMOS reset takes about 30 seconds to do, because it takes that long for the BIOS chip to drain the volts left in the circuit. You can try removing it for minutes, as it's still a relatively short time. Posted May 18, 2018 You don't have to wait that long. If you unplug the computer, hold the power button for a few seconds, take out the battery, then short the battery terminal, it will drain the electricity out of the BIOS settings memory in a second. I have a blog! And a list of guides I've posted Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/928174-bios-reset-question/#findComment-11354564 Share on other sites
 And accoring to gigabyts website for resetting the bios that is the first instruction . So i believe it actually does have it. Says CMOS-RST next to the connector . I used linus's video from a long time ago , used his clock rates . would not boot , owell just wanted to try anyways .
