computer not starting

I plugged in all my components and when I go to press the power button, the cpu light blinks once and the whole system turns off. What does that indicate? I've been troubleshooting and unplugging things, checking connections but I am at a complete loss at this time. What could be wrong? I have even taken the CPU out and reinstalled it. Thank you!

Have you tried clearing cmos? Also how tech savy are you, are you sure everything';s connected as it should be?

If this is a new pc build I suggest you try this.
I know this might seem silly but try checking if the motherboard is touching on the metalic surface of your case, on it's back.
Just to be sure, try unscrewing the motherboard from the case and place it on a non-conductive material and try booting up again.

 

Edit: Also have you installed a fan for your cpu?
