Bluetooth Connectivity

Hi guys, I have an ipod touch 3rd gen and a jaybird x3 bluetooth earphone.

 

I have experienced some connectivity issues whereby certain times when i place my hand over my pocket with my ipod in it, the connection gets interrupted and music stops playing. Same when i cover the volume controls on my earphones. My question is that, I have no idea what is at fault here, my earphones or ipod touch (It's pretty old). Can anyone guide me on this issue, how to find out which is the faulty part?

 

I have experienced this problem about 3 times so far, although it will recover by itself after some time.

Try to connect another device to the iPod via Bluetooth. iPod touch 3rd gen was released back in 2009 so it could just be the device is really old and getting outdated.
