HI, I just recently got a AT2020 and plugged it in through my AMP, I have been getting a hissing noise each time I do a recording, I know a way is issue on discord with their built in program (https://support.discordapp.com/hc/en-us/articles/211376518-Voice-Input-Modes-101-Push-to-Talk-Voice-Activated-) so I am looking for any programs that would do the same thing for other tasks and processes on windows. Thanks for any help in advance.

You know a way is issue on discord? I'm sorry I'm not following you very well.

Did you mean your looking for a program that make your microphone operate like it does on discord? As in some sort of global push to talk function?

the hissing noise is either static noise or static electricity reaching the sound module

try to enable noise reduction, if noise reduction solves it can still be either one of them however

discord doesnt use noise reduction, thats why u might hear it

I'm not sure I follow the problem either, but mic mute isn't the issue if you're getting white noise.

There are two options I can think of. One, simply use Audacity and remove the noise when you're done recording (I wrote a tutorial on this and other things a while back here- https://antlionaudio.com/blogs/news/how-to-edit-youtube-audio-in-audacity - Just go to the part about noise reduction (you can also play around with the others).

Second option, if you use OBS for recording (or SLOBS I assume?) there are plugins that will do real time noise reduction.

Removing the white noise is better than simply muting your mic when not in use, as that can cause clipping and other issues.

Also @Valkyrie Lenneth Discord does use noise reduction -> 2018-05-15_09h36_24.png.04705256061ed6cac1b6aa008c23ed9e.png
