Hi,

I want to get internet connection for my PC and console. Cable is almost certainly not an option. Best I come up with is:

- Archer C1200 connected to GPONT and internet via Wi-Fi. I would probably use another router as wireless bridge and connect PC and PS4 via cable to it. Overall 5-6 devices would be connected to wifi. It's about 12m between router and another router and two thick walls made of brick.

- TP-Link TL-SG1005D switch connected to GPONT, then TL-PA4010 connected to switch and another in my room + another switch in my room. Only two devices would be connected to this switch.

I want something that will provide high, stable transfer and low pings. I'm living in residential block so I'm afraid that other WiFi will interfere and pings or transfer may not be that great.

What would you recommend?

Okay, so to be clear. You have fiber and GPON terminal available and are planning your local network.

First, you need some kind of router. Get one from a good brand. If your networking knowledge and budget allows, you can also consider using own hardware and pfSense.

Second, for low pings, do not even consider 2.4 GHz WiFi if you are in residential area and there are many wireless networks around you. 5 GHz might help, if your devices support it, but it is still not as good as Ethernet connection. I wouldn't use wireless bridges/extenders, these tend to make your connection quality just worse (meaning not stable, high ping). If you really have to use wireless connection, use good access point.

I highly recommend getting switches and cable runs instead, much more stable and less prone to interference unlike WiFi.

I would love to use cable as I find them more reliable than wifi or plc. However I'm renting room in a flat, there are two other people renting rooms. Landlord and flatmates don't want any cables to be visible, there is no option to run them in a way they won't be visible at all (they would be visible while crossing doors). That's why I need to decide between wifi and two switches + plc.
