Hello! I am planning to do some heavy video editing this summer and my 5 year old computer sorely needs an upgrade. I bought a Thunderbolt 3 external GPU (Aorus Gaming Box) for my laptop, and I'm planning to use this for the upgraded computer until decent Nvidia Turing graphic cards hits the market. I need some upgrade tips, and I need to be sure that the parts will be compatible / well-matched with the Nvidia Turing graphic cards. I'm gonna use the Full Tower, power supply (which I changed recently) and peripherals from the old computer but the rest is gonna be new - ie. Motherboard, CPU, RAM, SSD. SATAdisk. Since it is a long time since I upgraded, I am considering to splash out - so going either Intel or AMD flagship CPU.

Please help me decide which parts I should buy!

Well if it's video editing I would definitely get the r7 2700x as that the best price to performance you can get for video editing without going HEDT which is gonna cost you alot more for pretty underwhelming performance difference. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TTn8r6 here is an example part list I would get for something like this. You could go for a bigger 970 if you wanted to.
