My current system has:

Gtx 1060 6gb

i5 4690k (stock)

MSI b85m-e45 (doesn't support overclocking)

12gb ram

I am looking into selling my gtx 1060 for $250 and buying a GTx 1070 Ti (or a 1080)

I wonder if this is a good upgrade, or if i should upgrade something else with my pc first.

Personally, I would upgrade mobo+cpu first, because I think there may be some throttling from the older cpu, im not exactly sure tho.

i like trains 🙂

Why do you want to sell your gpu and get a better one?

When considering upgrading, you need to ask yourself what you really need/want for your system setup. Instead of buying a new graphics card when your current one does the job, look at your mice, keyboard, monitors, chair, desk, etc. and see if you can upgrade your setup in a more worthwhile way.

Sort of like asking "should I get a bigger hammer or screwdriver?" Without knowing if you are going to be using screws or nails, it's a pretty difficult question to answer.
