I need some overclocking help

Go to solution Solved by nsyedhasan,

Sorry to say but, you don't have a great overclocker. The voltage you are running it at is too high. I would say the max voltage you should run it at about 1.3V. Having a high voltage means that your chip may not last as long.

So I'm trying to  overclock my 4770k and I'm not sure if its a bad chip or something else but here are the results.

The max (stable) core clock I can boot the system with is 4.3Ghz (1.7v) (corretion 1.170v lol)

I'm using Intel Burn Test for stability testing and I'm well within my thermal threshold, the highest temperature being 75°c.

This may also be happening cause of my motherboard(G1.Sniper M5) given its not made for overclocking.

Or this may just be quite a bad chip given that Linus said that he would recommend 4.7Ghz on all 4770k's in his 4th gen intel CPU OC guide

If you need to know something more on this just ask, I'll be active here for the next few days

any help on what I can do to get higher clock speeds or just tell me that this is a bad chip would be much appreciated =)

I'd say moaar voltage! i've a bad overclocker... can't get higher than 4.3 without insanely high voltages.
