So I have a motherboard that likes to work half the time. It's a FOXCONN G41MXE series and the PC itself seems to have been built around 2008.

I've been tasked to fix this pc up,I believed the hard drive was faulty, however the motherboard itself crashes out whenever I try to install windows on an SSD, weird visual glitches and it freezes up.

This is what I know of the pc so far:

Power Supply: Coolmax Model: V-500

Motherboard: FOXCONN G41MXE series

Ram: 2 x 2GB Samsung 1Rx8 PC3-10600U-09-11-A1

Case: It has a window and fan on it!

The folks I'm fixing this for don't need it for anything special, just paying bills, but I do still want to replace both of those parts

Suggestions? Thank you very much!

What's your budget and have you tried with different components, such as the PSU/sata cable for the SSD and so on?

Tried two display cables, I saw a spark on the 2nd cable but that's probably my fault. two displays, both net me the same result although it's worse now than it was before. it's always a 50/50 if the display will work.

Edit: budget is around $100 total
