My gaming rigs....

Hi, pretty new here, name's Mike and I'm into gaming in a big way. I'm kind of spoilt in that I want to game either at max ingame setting @1080/1200P, or near it @5760x1200. Hence, I'd want relatively powerful rigs to achieve this. There are times I'd wish I'd not gotten so enamored with powerful rigs, I could have saved myself some cash for longer holidays and such. Anyway, let me introduce my rigs....

First up, my main rig which I call DaBeast:

LGA2011 i7 3960X @4.5ghz

Corsair H100 (replaced stock Corsair fans with 2x Corsair SP Performance fans)

Asus Rampage IV Extreme

4x 4GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133mhz

Sapphire HD7970 + PowerColor HD7970 + Club 3D HD7970 in TriFire config

120GB Corsair Force GT (OS)

2TB WDC Black + 2x 1TB WDC Black (Storage)

Seasonic X-1250

Thermaltake Level 10GT (Black)

This was when I could only manage to source 2x 4GB Corsair Dom Plat

Complete with additional 2x 4GB Corsair Dom Plat 2133mhz

My 2nd rig, which I call 'Lil Blue, system spec as follows

AMD FX8350 @4.45ghz with default voltage

CoolerMaster Hyper 412Slim (replaced crap slim fans with 1x Corsair SP Performance fan)

4x 4GB G Skill RipJawsX 2133mhz

MSI GTX670 OC Ed 2GB + Palit GTX670 2GB SLi'ed

Last but not least, my trusty old X9650 which I'd refused to sell. Now housed in a new case which I'd recently gotten, together with the Corsair 650D. System spec as follows

This is an old pic, I've shifted house but my desk is still set up in this manner...

I've replace the Logitech G9 + G15 combo with a CM Storm Trigger Cherry MX Red and Thermaltake Level 10M mouse combo, but other than that, looks the same.

i think you should of build the Dabeast with a better case and liqiud cooling because those specs are amazing

Thanks, there are some nice looking case there (I like the Merlin SMH10), but unfortunately, they are not available in my neck of the woods. I do have my old SOLDAM XR-1 Black Knight, but have since mothballed it since it doesn't have front USB3.0 ports. Meanwhile, I'll keep my options opene for a new case for my main rig....thanks again.:)

How are your temps with your i7 @4.5GHz with the H100?

Very nice rigs by the way. That NZXT in Red is an eyesore, but the more I look at it, the more I'm liking it.

Thanks guys, worked real hard to earn enough to build them, and had to work as hard at maintaining them. Your comments, and critiques, are most welcome!:D

That stand/mount that holds the speakers is by Creative, but it's an EOL product, so you can't find it anymore. My center monitor has its on stand, while the two side monitors are held by monitor mounts secured to the table. As for water cooling, I'm considering WC for my 2nd rig as well, perhaps another closed loop by Corsair or Antec. In no rush actually as the Hyper 412Slim is doing a fine job, with idle temps at ~31C with load not exceeding 60C (with my room ambient temp set at 25C). My 3960X @4.5ghz is fine with idle temp at 26C with load not exceeding 50C.....according to Asus' AI Suite II anyway. The H100 is my first attempt at wrapping my mind around the idea of WC, never liked the thought of water and electronic parts so close together, know what I mean? :o I may go custom loop, but then again, I may not as a custom job sounds like a hella lot of work. I'm in something of a lazy rut as of late.....seems like I've been in a lazy rut for a long time now. As for the NZXT Phantom 410 Red, when I finally got it, I kind of regretted it as the red was pretty striking. Now, after a short adjustment period, I kind of like it, plus it did not cost much and can accommodate my two very long cards. I had to install more fans as these two card, when under load, do generate a fair bit of heat. I've installed an additional front intake 120mm fan + 2x 140mm top exhaust fans.

Geez, that's something I choose not to think about actually.......basically more than I can afford, not being modest here, just the truth. DaBeast was built when I was in the mood to build a beast that would last a while. But the more I got into the build like selecting parts, the more I'd felt that I was in over my head. Budget line kept getting shifted up till, before I'd realized it, I was waaaaaay over budget. I had originally wanted a modest 3930K, but there was simply no stock of it at launch.......the 3960X was in abundant supply. I could wait as I'd gotten the RipJaws, mobo, vid card (had a HD6970 then, the HD7970 was just about to be launched, so the HD6970 was a temp card), the HX1050 and such......was itching to build the rig. But I didn't build it, since I'd paid a wad of cash for the parts, the shop I had gotten the parts from offered to build it for me, so I thought, why the heck not?! My 2nd and 3rd rigs are completely self built, I've made some changes to my main rig, but the initial build was by the shop.

Here's a pic of the KB I had gotten to go with DaBeast, CM Storm Trigger mech KB.....I love it!:D BTW, that is a Logitech G9 v1.0 mouse I have been using for like forever! Took me a while to adjust to the Tt Level 10M mouse since it is not a claw type grip and is a tad bigger:
