Hi,

We are planning to build a new rig for our research group. It would be used for Machine Learning/ Deep Learning projects. We deal with text, image, and video data.

We want our system to have 4 Nvidia GTX1080Ti. No SLI, so multiple students can use it at a time(one student can use 1 GPU).

Apart from this, we want to have

RAM - 64 GB (we may increase it to 128GB if we would have budget left after getting everything else)

A 512GB SSD for OS and current project.

A 4TB HDD for long-term storage

What CPU and Motherboard do you guys suggest for optimal performance?

How many PCIe lanes my CPU should support so it does not become a bottleneck for my GPUs?

Do we need a dual CPU setup or a single CPU would do the job?

Anything else we should keep in mind while building this rig?

Additional information:-

1. Budget & Location

We are from INDIA and have a budget of 5,00,000 INR.

2. Aim

Machine Learning/ Deep Learning projects

3. Monitors and Peripherals

No monitors and peripherals, it would be a remote access rig.

4.OS

Ubuntu

Thank you

As far as a CPU (without having experience, but imo) you should get at least an X299 i9 or Xeon chip form Intel or one of the higher level Threadrippers.

Bow down to me humans.

I can't help if you don't quote me. How am I supposed to know if you need my premium support? Now starting at £399.99 a year.

Also, be a sport and mark the correct answer as the correct answer. It will help pour souls in the future when they are stuck and need guidance.
