Hi

I posted a few moments ago, but I am having trouble getting DBAN to boot. I have loaded DBAN onto my USB using RUFUS, the OS of the computer I want to wipe is windows 10. I went into the BIOS, and changed to boot order so the removable disk came first above Windows Boot Manager, when I shutdown the computer and restart mashing F12 to select which device to boot from, the USB device is not there, it then proceeds to load into windows. I tried using an older version of DBAN 2.2.8 instead of 2.3.0 but no luck. Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong.

Thanks

Managed to load into DBAN, changed settings in BIOS to legacy (Thanks), and secure boot was already disabled, I went into interactive mode, and got a message 'DBAN failed, Disks not found, DBAN could need a driver for this computer'. I'm going to try using the newer version 2.3.0, instead of 2.2.8

OK, so currently in my BIOS settings, I have 'Launch CSM' set to Always, and Boot Filter set to 'Legacy', the priority boot order is set to SanDisk which contains the DBAN ISO. I can successfully boot into DBAN, but cannot enter interactive mode, it gives me the error message described above. Also, Secure Boot is disabled. Still can't get into interactive mode, even with the 2.3.0 version

Successfully, booted into DBAN, however, when I try and enter into interactive mode on the 2.3.0 version, I get a 'cat: can't open '/proc/cmdline': No such file or directory' error

No idea. Re download and recreate the USB, try a different flash drive if necessary.

Answering because this problem still exists today  2019/11/11 and others like me seek help.

That works for me.
Error: DBAN 2.3.0 Cat can't open'/proc/cmdline'
Hardware  model: Lenovo ThinkCenter M900
Troubleshooting:
* Download older DBAN version 2.2.8: https://sourceforge.net/projects/dban/files/dban/dban-2.2.8/
* Change BIOS settings: Disable security Boot (security > secure boot > disable);
* Change BIOS settings: CSM Enabled (startup > CSM > enabled - this changes boot from UEFI to Legacy First);

* Boot with version 2.2.8, if you hit ENTER and goes with Interactive Mode, error message is "DBAN failed. The disks have not been wiped. Error: Disks not found. DBAN could need a driver for this computer.  sh-4.2#"
* You need to type autonuke   IT'S ALIVE! IT WORKS!
