While building my PC I realized that it only turns on when the graphics card isn’t plugged to the power supply. Everything runs normally, except the graphics card stops after about five seconds. it’s an 8 pin connection on the GPU, and the cord I got with my power supply has two PCI-Es on one side (a few inches apart) and on the other end an 8-pin connection, and the corner is an empty hole so it’s basicslly 7/8 of them. It does not turn on at all when I have the GPU plugged in. I have a 450 watt power supply and my system should be about 350 watts.

(the GPU I used is an Asus strix gtx 1070, not the 1080 on PCPartPicker)

You sure you plugged to cable properly and the GPU is properly seated?. Try a Re-seat and check which side of the cable goes where.

Turns out that as a newbie I will make newbie mistakes, I had the cable plugged into opposite sides of what I was supposed to.. thanks ????
