I am starting to have issues on my PC and usually I can trouble shoot problems easily. However, I am having issues of long load times, memory problems, applications sometimes will not respond to clicks for a minute plus. I first thought it was a memory issue, swapped out the kit with another laying around and issue remained. I will sit at 50% memory usage with 0 applications running. I am not sure if it's a memory issue or if my SSD is starting to go out on me. CPU is 4790k running at 4.3ghz ram is hyper x 1866mhz ddr3 and ssd is an all ocz 120gb.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions or recommendations on what I should do.

I am pondering upgrading to ryzen 2600 with 16gb and maybe a new SSD for os and apps.

** Update **

Just to update those that offered helped or were interested because they might be having similar issues.

I ran the built in "reset pc" on windows 10, which removes all apps but keeps files. This took about 6 hours in total from start to finish, just fyi.

After that ran I had re reinstall any apps and games that I had before. Which it actually did not delete all of my games which was nice.

I then ran "Storage Sense" and my OS Drive 120GB SSD went from 24GB free to 82GB free.

This storage sense seems to be the biggest reason my pc feels more "snappier" than before with none of the issues I previously mentioned.

Before I ran reset pc, my memory usage was sitting at 51% with ZERO applications or processes running.

I open up a browser and game and I was in 90+%.

After results are insane, with several tabs running, twitch desktop app streaming, all my games libraries running in the background (steam, battle.net, origin, epic games), and actually running Fortnite it self and playing the game.

I was at under 50% memory usage. THIS LITERALLY SEEMS LIKE "FREE MEMORY UPGRADE" and it feels like it too!

Feels like i am running a brand new pc and I am loving it!

4790K is a great chip

how much RAM do you have?

Oh thought I put that! It's an 8gb kit 2 x 4 at 1866mhz.

I thought about upgrading/adding ram but with the prices of DDR 3 I feel like it may not be worth it!

Yea, the 4790k is an excellent chip that can still very much hold it's own and 8gb of ram shouldn't hold you back too much for regular desktop use.

I'd say a windows reinstall is in order.

It's probably just bloatware hogging system resources.

I am thinking it might be my old SSD, getting long load times frequent "not responding" on tabs and apps. Would much rather spend a $100 for an ssd or new memory than having to update everything. The 4790k is serving me fine especially with the gtx 970!

Yea, but don't scrap the SSD yet.

It's probably fine.

It probably just needs to be wiped and have windows reinstalled.
