you would be better off going with a ryzen cpu rather than the pentium, imo also you can as the pentium is from intel and the current cpu is from amd, intel uses the lga(pins on the motherboard) socket and the amd uses the pga(pins on the cpu) socket. in addition to this, the ram and motherboard would be upgraded meaning that this is not very cheap.

if you went with a ryzen you can find a r3 1200/1300/x for a cheaper price and a b350 motherboard to overclock it for more performance, these chips are quad core not "hyper threaded" cpu's so that means that they have 4 actual cores inside compared to the pentium's 2 cores and 4 threads

however upgrading to any of these 2 means that you need need ram and motherboard, right now the ram is pretty expensive and for ryzen faster ram is still ideally better, for the intel CPU it isnt as dependent on the ram speed. the best ram speed for ryzen is 3200mhz if you can run that ram speed.if not try to get as high as possible

so i also just chekced the bottleneck, and no, the gpu is low end enough that the fx can run it without choking it so i dont think youd need an upgrade.
