Ryzen 2 Conundrum

Go to solution Solved by Crunchy Dragon,

The 2600 is essentially a higher clocked 1600 with slightly better IPC. Not enough of a performance gap to merit getting one IMO. Seeing as you already have the B350 board, I would just get the 1600 and be done with it.

I'm trying to upgrade my i5-6500 to a ryzen 2600 for animation but I don't know whether I should use the b350 motherboard I bought on sale (which would require a bios update) or get the bundled b450 instead (when it comes out).  Also worth considering are the newly dropped prices of the previous generation Ryzen processors, although I don't know at what price point they'd be the better option. Any thoughts?

Just go for a cheap R5 1600, they're near $150 now anyways.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...
