when opening some programs(ex.cura, Minecraft, adobe photoshop, blender etc.) it will just open a white screen. I have tried using compatibility troubleshooter. this issue started after an update that I did a few weeks ago. and have been having this issue ever since. I have tried searching up this issue and have not found anything that can help me.

if you would like to see the stuff that I've tried already this is a Microsoft forum post I made and the Microsoft employees are struggling to fix the issue. (also I hear audio from Minecraft so i believe it isn't a Minecraft issue for that one)

I guess an obvious question is: Did you try uninstalling the update to see if the problem resolves itself?

If not, the update may not even have anything to do with it. The Microsoft support forums have this tendency to have folk jumping down the rabbit hole (and every answer inevitably becomes "use SFC", which never has any effect).

All of the programs you listed seem to use some form of hardware acceleration. When was the last time you reinstalled your gpu drivers cleanly?

Edit: My bad, I just saw on the Microsoft thread that you tried removing the update already. What about the gpu drivers?

All of the programs you listed are ones that use the GPU. I would suggest reinstalling your video card drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller.

Hi!

I think i've found a solution!

I had the same issue for about a month trying reinstalling drivers and windows.

After billions of surgeries i managed to make my gpu work properly (almost).

I opened the app that was white-screening and tried to turn off the cpu graphics driver from the Device Manager.

The magic worked out and the app showed properly.

I turned the cpu graphics driver back on and everything is working fine.

The bad thing is I have to do this thing always I want to use gpu acceleration apps.

I know this is an old post but I think the problem is still relevant for others, so I´m going to write how I solved the problem.

My brother got this problem after he had moved his computer and updated his gpu drivers. The problem occured when starting Roblox and Davinci Resolve. He also got some weird problems with launchers like Epic Games and Riot Games, but with work-arounds he managed to launch the launchers (example: he forced Epic games to use his cpu instead of on auto).

As he had no problem playing games like Fortnite and Valorant I didn´t think of the possibility that he had wrongfully connected the monitors HDMI cable to his computer. After a couple of gpu driver reinstalls with no success I saw that the HDMI-cable was inserted in the motherboard instead of the graphics card.

When putting the HDMI-cable in the graphics card all of the above problems disappeared...

tldr: make sure the monitor is connected to the graphics card and not to the motherboard.

I signed up to LinusTechTips just to thank you!!

This problem has plagued me for months!!!

My problem was apps were whitescreening inside of a VM only.

Turning off 'Accelerate 3D Graphics' in the Display Properties of the VM made the white screening apps finally display.

Similar to your suggestion, you can identify this is the problem by turning off the CPU graphics in Device Manager

Many thanks
