Need help deciding GPU

Alright, I want to build a good performance PC for gaming and a little streaming. I need help deciding what GPU to get. I looked at the 1060 3GB and I'm worried it wont be enough VRAM and not future proof enough.

I'm looking at 1050 ti's and some used 970's and 470's 480's 570's 580's and can't decide what i need. I'm wanting to play Fortnite (of course) but when that game dies and i want to play other triple A titles i want to know i have a GPU that can handle it later on down the road. I'm trying to keep the PC under $750 and my GPU price range would be under $300 NO MORE. I don't understand VRAM really either so if anyone wants to enlighten me that would be great too. Thanks!

I have a GTX 970 and I get around 90 FPS in Fortnite at 1080p at epic settings. A used GTX 970 is one of your best options.

Might want to check the 2nd hand market for a place holder while prices creep down.

In most cases you'll want more VRAM if you're using higher resolution, I don't know enough about it myself, but I do know that if you want to game at 4k you need a lot of VRAM.

1060 3gb at 1080p at medium to high settings is more then enough future proof for the next 2-3 years

You know what RAM is right? The fast temporary memory where your gaming station stores all the juicy information that your CPU needs for important stuff and whatnot.

 

VRAM (yes, the V is for Video, as well as victory) is the same, but for your GPU. It holds all sorts of tasty textures and other shit your GPU needs to turn into Fortnite frames. Or VR hentai porn. Not judging.

what do you guys think about a 1050 ti 4gb instead? I'm looking for 1080p gaming with mostly maxed setting (except shadows and stuff)

its worse then the 1060 in every way, up to you better performance or cheaper.

well 1060 3gb is only $50 more so i think ill go with that if the 1gb of vram wont hurt me, that is if i cant find a used 970 or 980

I think your slightly confused Vram for 1080p gaming as long as its over 2gb its totally irrelevant a 6gb 1060 will not perform better then a 3gb at 1080p its at 1440 and 4k were the difference will start to show.

so i shouldnt need more vram for a while. I'm just stuck at 1080p.

defiantly not stuck you should be able to do 1440p but 4k not so much
