I picked up an x79 board and cpu combo that I didn't whether it worked or not for a good deal. Turns out it does work, however, I can't seem to get the system running stable. I don't think the CPU is overclocked at all (maxes out at 3.9Ghz on all cores and the boost is not constant though it is pretty constant at 3.6Ghz, despite not putting any load on the CPU), but I can't seem to get the system running for extended periods of time (I'm trying to have it run pretty much 24/7). It'll sometimes reboot itself and the motherboard will throw some LED errors or get stuck on a code (either/or not both at the same time). I recently added a 120mm fan directly above the VRM as I was thinking that that may be the issue. So far so good, but I figured I would show my most recent HWinfo screenshot from a fresh boot with the fan added. Is there anything that sticks out that I should be worried about?

As far as your voltages and temps go, everything looks reasonable. What are the errors/codes that have been coming up? are they consistent at all?

I did some more poking around and finally stumbled on what I think to be the problem. I watched some reviews of the motherboard from the time of launch and there were a couple people in the comments complaining about how AMD cards were causing random bluescreens and such. One of them even tried RMAing the boards a few times but to no avail. Unfortunately, since I've been using an AMD GPU from before the board/platform's launch, I think that that's the issue.

I wouldn't have taken that into account, but if the research is there to support it then it seems like a sound solution. Do you have another card you can test with at all?

Maybe there's been a motherboard bios update to address this issue since.

I'd try updating your bios.

Though be careful. Only do it when the weather is good as if anything bad happens during the bios update causing it to fail, the motherboard will then be a paperweight.

Yeah I have a 970 lying around from my last upgrade, so I'll give that a shot once I'm done with school

I already tried that unfortunately. Got it running the latest BIOS and it hasn't fixed anything.
