Aura Sync compatibility?

Go to solution Solved by Vandorlot,

You need an Asus Motherboard to be able to use aura sync. You also need a rgb port which your motherboard doesn't have. Sorry, but your stuck with the included controller.

I am planning on building a PC (Wow, never seen that before on LTT forums), and I wanted to try out RGB for the first time. All RGB components are Deepcool, which means it should be compatible with aura sync. Basically I was wondering, can you use aura sync without a compatible mobo? I was thinking something like connecting it to a USB header. If not, I guess I'm stuck with the limited functionality of the Deepcool RGB fans' included controller.

I'm pretty sure you need an Aura Sync compatible motherboard in order to control things through the board.

Is this a planned build or do you already own some or all of the components?

I know you didn't ask but the FX- 8350 is kinda garbage and even a ryzen chipset like a ryzen 3 would have more upgrade paths down the line, but the only Aura sync board is the Asus 970 Pro Gaming Aura

I figured someone would say that, but it really fits what I'm looking for right now. To be honest, though, there is a bit of upgradability, currently up to the FX-8370. But I know what you're saying with the AM3+ socket instead of the more mainstream AM4 used by Ryzen series processors. I may very well switch this out along with the motherboard, this build is far from being ordered.

First I'll answer your  question: I don't have any of the parts, I am still working on selling some older things to get the money. The case has RGB control knobs on it so I can use those to control all components in the system. Maybe some time in the future I can afford a $200 ROG STRIX mobo.

In that case do not go with a platform that is so old.
