Math Question! [Need Help] LOL!

Go to solution Solved by 79wjd,
  1. First do the stuff in brackets (B) -- so 1-0.046 = .954.
  2. And you have .046 + 3*(.046*.954/130)^.5.
  3. Then do the brackets again (you can consider the square root itself a bracket): .046*.954/130 = .00033756922308.
  4. So you have .046 + 3*(.00033756922308)^.5.
  5. Then handle the exponent (E): (.00033756922308)^.5 = .0183730572
  6. So you have .046 + 3*.0183730572.
  7. Then multiplication (M): 3*.0183730572 = .0551191716.
  8. Then lastly addition: .046 + .0551191716 = .1011

Hey,

So I have a Math Midterm Monday, And i'm completely blanking on how to solve this.

I know this is not really where I should be asking, but this is the only Forums i'm on, and get some good help from the members.

So I have the correct answer For the question.

Its just doing the steps for solving and punting it in the calculator I'm confused with.

Like we were shown the Whole "Step by Step" Using B E D M A S.

My calculator has the ability to put it in all at once, But I have blanked like I said and have no clue how to get the Answer...

The answer is the 0.101

Wait, Is there a more faster way to put it all into the calculator at one time?

I know people in my class that can.

Its because i'm trying to memorize this.

Thanks!

The calculator probably has some option for using brackets/parenthesis to make sure the correct calculations are being done. But to be honest, it's probably worthwhile doing it in steps since in steps you can reasonably verify the results with some common sense -- whereas in one large step you're far more likely to make a mistake an not realize it. Not to mention just plugging it all into a calculator doesn't help you actually learn the material or how to do the problem.
