Trying to make improvements to my x79 system to better support 4K video editing.  I currently have a raid0 ssd config as my scratch/project disk in permiere pro cc but I feel like I need something with a bit better reads so I can scrub though the clips faster. Will installing an nvme drive help me with this?? Using an older x79 asus sabertooth board I am worried I won’t get the full performance capabilities of the drive and if it wouldn’t be that much better than my raid I would rather save the cash for a newer system.  Also if anyone has performance numbers on using this setup even if no experience with premiere would also be super helpful.

I don't believe X79 has support for NVMe, if I recall correctly NVMe came out around the release of Skylake(Z170)...

If you've got the storage space, RAID 1 will increase your read speeds. Although you only get half of your purchased storage space to allow for redundancy.
