So i've overclocked from atlhon 2 x2 250 3.0 ghz to 3.9 by changing the speed from 220 to 240, i left everything else AUTO (motherboard asus m5a78l m lx3)

Stress tested it for 20 mins : max temp 60 degrees C°

Current Voltage 1.4 V

When i went from 240 to 250 i got a blue screen, so my question is should i go any further??should i change the voltage? (i didnt change the voltage manually so far it's on AUTO)

I personally wouldn't go any farther.

Disable Cool and Quiet and any core boosting. Only increase frequency one step at a time and very slightly up the voltage if it's unstable, but do check the maximum safe voltage for your CPU first.

why should i disable cool and quiet, can you explain please????

I personally wouldn't have a need for anything higher than that.

If you want higher speeds, you will have to start changing voltage.

Because it gets in the way of overclocking, since it changes clock speeds and voltages, and offers no real advantage in being left on. You can still enable C States, which will mean that your PC can still use lower power/sleep states. I know that this source is for Ryzen but the same holds for any AMD CPU that has Cool and Quiet as an option in the BIOS:
