First time build, put in a lot of research recently, i bought a $700 prebuilt pc earlier this year and now im ready to build one ! I need ops on this build and part recommendations!

For starters, let's talk about your $700 prebuilt. What specs does it have, and what can you possibly reuse?

unless you need another rig for some reason, just upgrade the one you already have.

its nice but i dont think it'll hold up against newer games

An R9 390 with only 2Gb VRAM? I thought they only came with 8Gb.

 

OK, you can reuse your HDD which is nice. Depending on what CPU/motherboard you upgrade to, you may be able to reuse your RAM as well.

OK, you can reuse your HDD which is nice. Depending on what CPU/motherboard you upgrade to, you may be able to reuse your RAM as well.

It's a 270, he miscopied it. Though, there have been times where people have had custom skus made for their products, so this could just be one of those times.

@Crunchy Dragon is there a massive difference between ddr4 ram and ddr3 ram?

Salvage the ram and storage from it, though that's about it. What's your budget for a new system/upgrade?

DDR4 is faster than DDR3 and is the only RAM you can use on anything above 7th gen Intel or AMD Ryzen.

Some chipsets can use it, others can't. Will probably be more economic for you to just reuse your DDR3 for now

I'm planning to buy parts 1 by 1 throughout the year an wait for the GPU prices to drop but my max would be $2500
