After a long time of waiting, I'm finally building a gaming computer, but since I'm new to this, and have a relatively low budget, I was hoping I could get some assistance.

I'm getting some free parts from a friend, specifically the motherboard, CPU, ram, and a power supply. I want to start with a good GPU, since that will be the most expensive to upgrade,

but with the GPU price increases, it's difficult to afford anything better than a 1060 with my setup. Here's the link to my build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3sq4q4, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Your part list looks fine although I wouldn't buy that MSI graphics card, I'd buy an asus strix gtx 1060 even if it costs more. It is very silent and even has a fanless mode. It's good for overclocking and looks cool as well.

As for GPU prices, prices have started to come down and I highly recommend you wait another month or two because by then, GPU mining will become unprofitable and GPU prices will plummet.

if he gave you a stock cooler to go with the 4300 then use that and save the money for something else. get the ultra 3d or MX500 instead of the ssd plus.

Honestly, something you could do is sell the parts from your friend since they're outdated(keep the RAM) and buy a used 4th gen Intel CPU/motherboard bundle

I have to wait until late May anyway, so that works out well, but I'm keeping an eye out for when nvidia GPUs are in stock.

Thanks to everyone so far for the help. I never realized how awesome the PC community was. This is the first thread I've posted on any site that

got a response the first day, much less four.
I think that I'll probably drop the closed loop liquid cooler, and maybe go for a 1070 if possible.

Thanks again for the help, now I know that if I need anything I can always just ask.
