tl;dr get a Predator X34/X34-A

1440p Ultrawide? I have a Predator X34-A and it's great and goes on sale for $900 all the time. IPS, 100HZ, G-Sync. If you can find it for sub-$1k, the Alienware AW3418DW is the best ultrawide on the market but it regularly spikes as high as $1300. Personally I've experienced both, as well as that AOC one (don't buy it, mine was DOA and it's kinda ugly anyways) and I'd say it's not worth it but money no object it's absolutely the better panel. That being said the X34/A is still amazing considering how much of a pain surround still is and the fact that that Samsung 32:9 panel is only 1080p

Thank you, I was leaning towards those options, LG has the Nano IPS coming out soon. But I have a feeling the price is going to be outrageous as well.

Yeah, it's probably gonna range up close to 2k would be my guess.

Just go for a 4k monitor at this point so you never have to worry about replacing it.

Or grab one of the $399 1440p 144hz IPS free-sync displays

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

4k For what I want, is going to be out of my budget for awhile. That and I don't want to upgrade my 1070 just yet until I go 2066.

decent 4k IPS free-sync displays are $500 or less

you can also run plenty of things at 4k with a 1070, or just use the render scale option in many games now.

1440p's kinda a dead resoloution since 4k is quite cheap at this point

So through a discount I can get the Alienware for just over 900.00 USD

If you can get it for that I say jump on it. That's actually less than my X34-A cost ($960)

Basically my biggest issue is streaming / playing from the same pc using a 1070. I don' think that will be doable at 1440p let alone 4k with a 1070.

So long as you're willing to drop down to High settings rather than ultra it'll do 1440p ultrawide 100-ish FPS

You can just downscale your stream to 1080p with no issues, if you're streaming to twtich you're probably downscaling to 720p 60fps anyways.

4K is easily the way to go for the long haul.
