Hey there!

I've got my new PC build with the new i9 7980xe, 500GB mv SSD, Win 10, 32 GB of RAM, 1070Ti and a 850 watts of electricity power adapter.

My problem is that when i start Windows i just get about 4,2 GHz in idle. Then suddendly when i start for example Steam or any other games it turns back to 1,2 or 2 GHz and this is so annoying. Sure i bought this CPU for my work as designer but i still want to play games with it. And i cant really play with like 1 GHz . Is this normal ? is there any way to fix it ?

Thanks for any Help :)

So what that screenshot tells us is that 1.2GHz is the lowest clock on idle, while 4.4GHz is the max clock on (single core) turbo.

Clocks will increase as you move from idle to load, but it won't go all the way up, certainly not on all cores, if the load involves multiple cores. Since you will have different cores running at different clocks at each point in time (unless running something that utilizes all of them equally), looking at any software that gives you one single value for your current clock can be deceitful (I do think CPU-Z should tell you the maximum, but can't be sure). I'd suggest monitoring the behavior of your clocks with software that reports all the different clocks separately (like CoreTemp or OpenHWMonitor).
