USB Driver Update Failed

tacocopter

Got everything put together, installed Windows, spent and an hour and a half in Windows Update then a number of devices were showing errors in device manager.  So I popped in the CD from my motherboard and went about updating the drivers. When I updated my USB drivers however, I get an error message that "Device driver software was not successfully installed".

All of a sudden my mouse and keyboard lights go dark and nothing works. I restart the computer and I can use both in my BIOS but once Windows loads I can't use any USB device. So I can't rollback the drivers or troubleshoot anything.  Is there any work around to this or am I stuck reinstalling Windows again?

Yes.  It has no effect.
