Other than crossfiring with another 7770, it is actually better to just sell the current one and buy a better single card. You could get something like a 7870, or with a little more money, a 7950. That would save you from the problems that appear in some games when crossfiring cards and give you better performance overall. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/365447-33-7770-7870

My Rig:

  • CPU: 1090T@4.1ghz
  • GPU: Gigabyte 7870
  • MOBO: Crosshair Formula V
  • RAM: 8GB 1333mhz
  • PSU: 650w corsair HX
  • SSD: 120GB Kingston HyperX
  • Sound card: Asus Xonar DX

+1 for 7870. One GPU will produce less micro-shudder than two.

Current Rig:

Phenom II x2 550 @ 3.7GHz stock volts

Corsair A70

ASUS M4N75TD

WD 500GB Black Drive

WD 1TB Blue Drive

XFX GTS 250 at stock settings

XFX 650W XXX edition PSU

OCZ BE 4GB @ 1600MHz 9-9-9-24 1.5v

Mushkin Radioactive 8GB @ 1600 9-9-9-24 1.5v

Cooler Master CM690II Advanced edition

You are much safer buying a single card as Crossfire may not scale very well in certain situations. If you buy a single card you are guaranteed to get what pay for.

CPU: Intel Core i7 3770k | Graphics Card: PowerColor 7970 V3 | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z77X-UD4H | HDD: 2TB Seagate Barracuda | Memory: 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz CL9 | PSU: XFX Core Series 550W Black Edition | Case: Corsair 200r | Monitors: LG 23EA63V 23" 1920x1080 IPS 60Hz + Lenovo L1700pC 17" 1280x1024 75Hz

Sell your current 7770 and use the money that you were going to use for a second on a new GPU, you should be able to get something like a 7850 or 7870, both cards are great and will give good performance.

Benches:

I agree with everybody else here.

It is always better to use 1 higher performing card than using crossfire or sli.

Keep in mind that some games dont even support crossfire. Plus it is more hassle (more heat, noise, etc)

Also if u get a better card u can crossfire that in future if u want. The older cards will be obsolete sooner as well

nah not worth it. Rather have one really good decent card than ok ones. Not worth the money. Higher temps produced by 2 cards. 2 cards sli/crossfire can sometimes perform less efficient than one really good gpu. As everyone said, sell old, buy new :)

Agreed, try and sell that 7770 and grab a 78xx or even better 79xx :). OR nvidia equivalent

two 7770s would perform about as good as a 7870 in average (also has more memory). instead of buying a 7770 for about 140$ it would be wiser to sell your current 7770 for about say 70$ and get a 7870....!!

this way once you overclock you will get better performance than 2*7770s and also consume a little less power.

crossfire / sli is always a hassle (compatibility issues) ,consumes more power ,is noisier, runs hotter ,!!

as linus says "one higher end card is better than 2 lower end ones in crossfire/sli".....!!
